Every Body Massage Therapy works from a person centred, body neutral, trauma informed, queer and trans literate perspective. This means that I strive to make treatments a collaboration between you, the client, and me, the practitioner.

Both my lived and professional experience has taught me that social injustices and structural inequalities place a higher burden of survivability on historically marginalised/excluded folks. This is especially true when it comes to health management.

EBM provides services for folks who identify with the following groups:
- Queer and trans people
- Chronically ill and disabled people
- Survivors of trauma
- People living with chronic pain
- People managing their mental health with body work

I strive to create a practice that prioritizes care and access for historically marginalized and excluded people, not only for physical comfort but, for joy and nourishment.

I work in a professional clinic environment at Sunrise Pelvic Physiotherapy in Enmore on stolen Gadigal Land. Please see here for full details on clinic access, location and COVID-19 precautions.

THE SESSION

When you book an appointment with me I will send you a digital intake form outlining health history, areas you would not like to be touched and access and mobility needs you may have. There is also the option to fill out a hard copy in person.

When you arrive for the treatment we will sit down for a glass of water and a quick chat about what you would like to get out of the session. This will include going over any necessary things in your form, setting out a treatment plan and checking in verbally about any boundaries with physical touch or concerns you may have.

The front of the body - particularly the abdomen and the chest - are often sites that are overlooked in body work. In my experience I have found these places to be sites of emotional holding and fascial restriction contributing to back, neck and shoulder pain. If it seems these areas are relevant for you we will discuss the most comfortable way to approach it before you are on the table. For some people, these areas will be cathartic and opening, for other folks working on these areas will not be comfortable at all - and that is ok!

Regardless of the comfort level of the client, nipples and fleshy chest/breast tissue will not be worked on. If you opt to include the front of your upper body in the session, you can be covered as much as possible or fully exposed. Iam happy to be led by whatever feels right for you.

When we have set a plan and agreed on what we will be doing, I will leave the room and let you undress.* You will hop on the electric table and cover yourself with one of my extra large towels. If you need any assistance in undressing or getting on the table, I am happy to help!

During the treatment you will remain covered with the towel except for the body part I am working on. I will uncover and recover you up as I move around your body. Your buttocks and genitals will never be exposed during the treatment**.

When it is time to change position, I will lift one edge of the towel to form a screen between you and I, allowing you to roll over and then be covered up again without being seen.

After the treatment is finished, I will let you know our time is up and leave the room to allow you to get up and get dressed (unless you need assistance). After a few minutes I will knock on the door, come in to have a chat and wrap up our session.

*Typically clients undress to their bottom underwear and remain like this for the whole treatment. Having said this there are always options for clothes on massage so feel free to ask for what you need!

** I do work on the buttocks and hips through the towel unless we have discussed this as an area to avoid.

Testimonials

I am a huge Egan evangelist - could not be more enthusiastic about recommending her work. They’re not only super observant and responsive in terms of what my body needs, with excellent technique - they’re a really patient educator about how bodies fit together and what interventions are likely to be helpful. Hands down the most helpful thing i do for my chronic pain is my sessions with them

Egan is not only extremely knowledgeable and efficient in their massage techniques, but equally so caring and supportive of the emotional elements that may come with body trauma and chronic pain. I look forward to our sessions together and couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

Egan really listened to what I needed. Definitely going back to them. So please Ive found my massage person

Egan is attentive and thoughtful, and gives a damn. Egan is a genius wizard. They have treated my pain in enduring ways like nothing else has done.

Egan is one of the kindest practitioners I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. They are a constant delight, an attentive listener, and incredibly in-tune with my body and its needs - always happy to provide exercise recommendations and solutions for my physical issues. They’re also actively supportive of the wider community + advocates for accessible care. The space they create in their home is the kind where you immediately feel welcomed and safe. They ask for consent and always checks-in, and I leave our sessions in less pain, feeling much more centred and calm. I would highly recommend Egan to anyone looking for help with their body.

Egan was so respectful, I felt completely at ease. Thank you so much!

Egan is an attentive, respectful and informed practitioner. I really appreciate having the massage process explained to me to help me better understand what was going to happen and why it was needed. Throughout I felt heard and like Egan really wanted to work together with me to help my body feel restored.
